The Elopement. We’re Married?!
If you would have told me one year ago that within twelve months I would be married and have a beautiful daughter, I would have called the police and had you committed or fainted…maybe both. I guess this is how drastically fast life can change (for the better).
Eloping & The Vows – August 15th
So, our appointment is at 1:30pm. We are all excited. We get downtown and after a short wait we are called up to get the marriage license. Apparently (for some crazy reason), they require you to bring your ID with you to get married. Something I failed to bring with me. So we go all the way home, lose our appointment, go all the way back, and wait in line. Finally, we are called up again. They do not take credit cards and since we don’t carry checks, off Stan goes to the bank. Four hours later we were finally standing in front of the officiant saying our vows. Yes, Stan teared up a little. (Later, he tried to blame it on the fact that I was teary and it was only his instinct to sympathize. Riiiiight.) After the vows we seal the deal with a kiss and Stan gave me a big hug which, because I was teary, caused me to snot all over his cheek. So fitting for the day, don’t you think? We do have a video showing us exchanging vows but, I kid you not, there is a train in the background, a sun reflection on the screen and its really shaky. All in all, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was perfect in all its craziness. There are not any rules for eloping or for having a wedding except doing what makes you happy. This day was about us and our commitment to each other. That is all that matters to us.

The Ring…
Its scary to say that I now own a piece of jewelry valued over $5.
Here are my weird shaped fingers to prove it:

Palm Springs after the Wedding – August 15th to August 17th
Over the weekend we went to Palm Springs. Mainly as a vacation before we are forced back into real life. It was a lot of fun. Friends and family were able to come, we went to the water park, we talked, we ate, we laughed, we drank, we danced, we went in spas. Here is a glimpse:
In other news…
- Stan’s first week of law school is over! He loves it. It’s the cutest thing. I am so proud of him.
- I am addicted to coffee once again. I love everything about it: the texture, the taste, the warmth. God, help me. On that note, I need this mug.
- We decided to sign another six month lease at our apartment. That means Lily June doesn’t get her own bedroom for a while. It would really only be for storage. She insists on sleeping with us (or else she won’t go to sleep). A bad habit, I know but I love sleeping with her too.
- I start class next week!! Tennis, Piano and of course, English.
- The Fleet Foxes are pretty good.
