Sunday Scribblings – Embracing the New
Today’s prompt for Sunday Scribblings is “New”. What’s new in your life? What new things should you be embracing? What does new mean to you?
The first thing that came to mind was the “New” extra poundage I’ve added to prosterior region. It has been quickly sneaking up on me and I wasn’t sure why until today (But no, I am not embracing that part of this new thing).
For some background information, I am not at all weight crazy nor I have I ever done a serious diet. In fact, I normally just try to eat a healthy, pescetarian menu and that works for me. It is basically fruits, veggies, and fish.
Lately, I have been eating and I mean eating. For dinner I had one (gynormous) veggie burrito that topped out at almost 900 calories. So starting tomorrow, I will be embracing a regular eating schedule and this will mean dropping back down to my normal, loveable weight. I think the total damage so far is about 15 pounds. I will measure for sure tomorrow morning and try to keep you updated along the way.
Why do I care you ask? I am not overweight according to any eyeball, calculator or scale. It isn’t really about me. Stan and I have a strict promise to each other to stay healthy and, well, attractive. We don’t believe that marriage is cause for letting ourselves go physically. This means working out, eating healthy, being healthy inside and out. I always try to take it a step further and:
- Wear clothing that I know he loves.
- Get out of my pajamas at a decent hour, even when Lily is being a wild child.
- Add some blush and mascara for kicks.
- Surprise him with random bursts of affection.
- Let him know that I am attracted to him.
All things men need from their wives (well, they don’t NEED blush and mascara). After all, you did it when you were dating didn’t you? Truth be told, behind the football, beer, and muscle there are profound feelings and needs.
So, there is something greater that I am embracing with this “New” thing in my life. It is the outward display of love and respect for my husband and being reminded that there are few things more important than that.
Yes, our time will come for wrinkles, sagging, and other joys of aging. But we will be doing those things while so deeply in love that we won’t be able to notice them. <3
Another “New” item is my handy Home Management Notebook. Which I used today and it was fabulous. I love knowing exactly which bills are due, what I have on my master to do list, etc. I just love being organized. Now, the hard part will be keeping life organized!
Stan goes back to school on August 17th!!!

You offer great advice…lovely post.
your husband is a lucky guy. your organizing book reminds of anther lady who decided to do the same thing. In her clean up she found the same book that she had bought a year ago
