How to Host a Holiday Recipe Swap
Hosting a holiday recipe swap just before the holidays is a great way to taste new recipes and get new ideas. To make your holiday recipe swap a success, follow these simple tips.
- Set a time and date.
- You can have a themed party, such as appetizers, deserts, or casseroles.
- Use Evite.com to create a fun, eco-friendly invitation.
- Invite fellow Moms and Cooks. Instruct them to bring one dish to share, a copy of the recipe for that dish, and a few of their favorite holiday recipes or cookbooks.
- Supply Paper and Writing Utensils for Guests. This way they can share and take home recipes they like. Even if you instruct guests to bring a copy of their recipe, I would have paper and pens handy anyway. You never know what recipes will come up during discussion.
- Supply index cards, fold them in half and write the name of each dish. Place the index card in front of the dish to identify it.
- Supply drinks, water, tea, coffee, etc.
- Clear counter space, a dining room, or set up extra tables to hold your guest’s dishes.
- Make sure there is enough seating for guest.
- Take a picture of each dish. Follow up after the party by emailing copies of the recipes and pictures to guest.
Holiday Recipe Swaps are a great way to socialize and discover new, interesting meals to prepare. Use your creativity and hosting a holiday recipe swap will be a blast!
